I tried the KATSU CURRY cooking box from Berlin based @easycookasia_de for father's day 😊️. Katsu is essentially a piece of meat, that has been breaded in panko and deep fried like a Wiener Schnitzel. I added cheese and butter and fried it in an air-fryer. .
@easycookasia_de 's cooking box comes with instructions and all important dried asian ingredients. If you're like me and don't have an asian supermarket nearby or struggle to find things in asian supermarkets this cooking box might be perfect for you! You only need to buy the fresh ingredients found in all supermarkets. 🤑 Save 10% on your online order in Germany with my code: Foodistisch

1

Cook the rice in your rice cooker or in a pot.

Pot method by bonapetit: Rinse your 400g rice in a fine-mesh sieve until the water runs clear. Alternatively, you can rinse the rice in a bowl or pot with several changes of cold water, draining carefully between rinses. It washes away the starchy powder that would otherwise make the grains of rice clump up and stick together.

Combine rice, ½ tsp. kosher salt, and 400ml water in a medium saucepan/pot

Give everything a gentle stir. Bring to a boil, then cover pot with a tight-fitting lid and reduce heat to low, aiming for the lowest possible flame. Cook rice, undisturbed—that means NOT opening the lid!—for 18 minutes.

Remove pan from heat. Let stand at least 15 minutes or until ready to use. Uncover and fluff cooked rice with a fork before serving.

2

Chop potatoes and carrots in bite sized cubes. Cook in 700ml water. Add the curry, let it dissolve and stir. Cover and simmer over a low heat for 20 mins.

3

Fillet the pork chop by running the knife about ¾ through the middle. Pound both sides of the meat with a meat tenderizer tool or the back of a knife. Season both sides of the katsu with salt and pepper.

4

Open the flap of the pork, spread butter on it, place a slice of cheese in the middle. Close the flap. .

5

Prepare the coating by placing the flour, panko and beaten eggs in 3 separate large plates. Coat the katsu in flour, then egg, then panko.

6

Fry in oil or air fry:
OIL FRY: Heat a layer of oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat and cook katsu for 5min on each side or until cooked through.

AIR FRY 160°: Pre-heat air fryer, cover with baking paper, air-fry katsu for 10min, flip katsu, air fry 8min.
.

7

Slice the katsu. Divide the rice between bowls. Top with curry sauce and katsu. Sprinkle with spice powder. Enjoy
